Every road has travelers... a beautiful story for this beautiful family in the making

One of my favorite things about being a Military family is the connection! A client from Fort Polk, now in Texas referred a friend in Washington D.C. for an IVF Announcement Session!!!

"When Alex and I first started trying to get pregnant over seven years ago, I had no reason to think we’d have any trouble. We were 25 years old, healthy, and Alex had just returned home safely from his first deployment of 12 months to Iraq. After a year of trying with no luck we moved to Fort Huachuca, Arizona, and quickly got in touch with our first Reproductive Endocrinologist to try and figure out what was going wrong. Across the next six years we would move to Clarksville, Tennessee and then to Alexandria, Virginia, seeing two different RE’s along the way. We tried all sorts of different tests and treatments in between Alex’s two subsequent deployments to Afghanistan, such as IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) and eventually worked our way up to the “big kahuna,” IVF (In Vitro Fertilization). Our first attempt at IVF had us briefly elated, as we saw our first ever positive pregnancy test, only to quickly be crushed by a chemical pregnancy (aka an early miscarriage). Following that we did another embryo transfer (failed), and another round of IVF and an embryo transfer (failed). That brings us to this past January, when we decided to try a new test called an ERA (endometrial receptivity array), which tests the receptivity of the uterus to an embryo at the point in your cycle when you would normally transfer an embryo. The test results showed that my uterus wasn’t quite receptive yet on the day when we were doing transfers, so my doctor prescribed that we wait an extra day in the following embryo transfer cycle.

What happened in March 2017 was a whirlwind of emotion and excitement, as we received only the second positive pregnancy test that we’d ever seen in seven years! Of course, we were on high alert for another early miscarriage, but everything continued progressing normally this time, which left us cautiously optimistic.

I’m now 19 weeks pregnant, and I sometimes still can’t believe that this is actually our reality now. It’s a very surreal feeling, after experiencing so many years of trying and failing over and over again. It took seven years, 4 embryos, and an unthinkable amount of money, but every bit of it was worth it to get to this moment.

When Megan offered to take our announcement photos for us, we were so excited to finally make the big announcement that we’d been planning and waiting on for so long. She was a pleasure to work with, and she really made us feel at ease.

Seeing the outpouring of love and support that we’ve received from family and friends since making our big announcement honestly brings tears to my eyes.

This is such a special moment for us, and we are so glad that we had Megan to help us capture it."

So excited for this very sweet couple! Excited to meet and photograph their little darling in the Fall!

KEYS PHOTOGRAPHY BELLY CASTING!!!

I am so honored to have finally mastered the art of Belly Casting!!! I am so excited to able to offer this service to my clients! Belly casting helps to capture your belly just as it is, growing your precious little one inside...

I often think back on my own pregnancies... I wish I had done it with my own babies! I wish I could hold up a cast and show my babies how it looked from the outside when they were inside! My kids love hearing about my pregnancies with them. I am blessed to have had easy pregnancies, believe me I thought some parts were vey tough, but for the most part, it wasn't terrible.

What a joy to be able to provide this service for each of my expecting Mommas! When a Maternity & Newborn Session are combined, I like to offer the Belly Casting as a gift. A special time that I get to share with my client and I love it!

The cast will be stored to dry properly and then we will use the cast for our Newborn Session. There are a few different poses will will do with the cast and baby to recreate the womb like posing. I do prefer to do the Casting at about 34-36 Weeks of pregnancy. This gives us a good size bell, especially when using for Newborn Portraits.

If you are interested in Maternity, Belly Casting or Newborn Sessions I would love to chat with you! I am now booking Summer Newborn Sessions!

Megan
